Professor James McCluskey was appointed Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research) at The University of Melbourne in March 2011.
James is known internationally for his research into basic and clinical immunology and for leadership in the field of Immunogenetics. James’ work has substantially grown our understanding of how genes control immunity, autoimmune disease and the basis of transplantation matching.
He has received several distinguished awards for his research excellence and was recently elected to the fellowship of the Australian Academy of Science.
James is a member of several boards of independent medical institutes and consults for the Victorian Transplantation and Immunogenetics Service.
